Reiseprogramm
1st day: Bucharest – Predeal (approx. 140 km)

Arrival at airport in Bucharest, meeting with Romanian guide and drive further  towards Southern Carpathians, to Predeal. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

2nd day: Predeal – Peles castle –Bran castle – Brasov (approx. 100 km)

After breakfast you will drive towards Sinaia. Sightseeing of  Peles-Castle, former summer residence of Romanian kings of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen-family. Continuation of trip towards Bran, an impressive former Saxon peasant’s castle, which made the „Dracula-Castle“ known. In the afternoon, you shall reach Brasov. During the city tour one visit the Black Church (largest gothic religious building in Southeastern Europe) and the City Hall Square with its attractions. In the late afternoon you will reach back Predeal after an adventurous day. Dinner with folkloric music in the Restaurant „Cabana 3 brazi“. Up in the mountains, you will enjoy an impressive evening. Drive back to hotel and overnight accommodation.

3rd day: Predeal – Biertan – Sighisoara (approx. 200 km)

In the morning departure through Rupea towards Biertan. Until the end of the 19th century, here was the seat of the evangelic bishops of Transylvania. After the visit, the trip continues towards Sighisoara, one of the few medieval castles which are still lived. During the roundtrip one shall visit the Clock Tower and the Church from the Hill  and will have the chance for a short shopping tour in the picturesque setting. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sighisoara.

4th day: Sighisoara – Sovata – Praid – Lacu Rosu – Bicaz gorge – Bucovina region (approx. 350 km)

After breakfast we’ll drive through Sovata towards Praid. Here you will visit one of the most wel known and largest salt mine in Romania. Here arises most of the mineral fount in Transylvania. Continuation through Gheorghieni in the Eastern Carpathians. At Lacu Rosu you will stop shortly, to admire the extraordinary view of the lake, which originated after a natural disaster in the year 1838. Due to a landslip, an overgrown mountainside collapsed in the shallow ware and the trunk of the trees stand out at the surface. The Bicaz gorge, only few kilometers further, offers also a breathtaking scenery. Late in the afternoon we’ll reach the northern part of Moldavia, the Bucovina. Dinner and overnight accommodation in the Bucovina region.

5th day: nunneries roundtrip (approx. 145 km)

There are four nunneries and a village church which UNESCO offered the „Golden Apple” for their uniqueness of the exterior mural painting. Three from these we will visit today. These are the nunneries Moldovita, Sucevita and Voronet. Although the theme of the paintings is alike, each nunnery has its unicity. Thanks to the “Last Judgment”, on the west wall painting, is the nunnery Voronet also called “The Sistine Chapel” of Romania. The Region Bucovina ist also known for its pottery production. A short stop is worth at the pottery centre in Marginea. Drive back to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Bucovina area.

6th day: Bucovina – Bistrita – Cluj Napoca (approx. 300 km)

After breakfast you will drive over Eastern Carpathians. Through the Tihuta-pass the trip continues towards Bistrita. The small and beautiful historic city is worth a short stopover. Afterwards you drive towards Cluj Napoca. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

7th day: Cluj Napoca – Alba Iulia – Sibu (approx. 165 km)

The day begins with a complete city tour of Cluj Napoca, the city which architecture of the imperial times was clearly influenced. The city tour starts at the catholic church of St. Michael, along the remains of the former defense wall to the orthodox cathedral. Afterwards you continue the drive towards Alba Iulia, a city which played a very important role for Romania and the Hungarian minority. In the former fortification, you visit the orthodox and the catholic cathedrals. In the first evening hours you will reach Sibiu. Dinner an overnight accommodation in Sibiu.

8th day: Sibiu

Sibiu  is one of the most important German foundations in Transylvania, which was in 2007 the cultural capital of Europe. During the detailed sightseeing, you will visit the Large and the Small Square, the Bridge of Lies and the Evangelic and Catholic Churches. You will have free time at your disposal in the afternoon. In the evening drive to Sibiel, a typical Romanian village nearby. Here you are invited at a peasant family for dinner with vine and plum brandy. Overnight accommodation in Sibiu.

9th day: Sibiu – Cozia monastery – Bucharest (approx. 275 km)

After breakfast you will drive along the picturesque Olt River up to the Cozia monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Romania. Afterwards continuation of the trip, partially over highway, towards Bucharest – the capital of Romania. City tour in Bucharest with photo stop at the Parliament (second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon) and at the Revolution Square. Then visit of the Patriarchal Church, seat of the Romanian Orthodox Church. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Bucharest.

10th day: Bucharest – flight home

Depending on departure time, the morning remains at free disposal. Transfer to the airport, farewell from Romanian guide and flight home.
